Meet the #iKTribe: Charlotte Badassy

The #iKTribe is a family, built on different personalities, backgrounds, talents and abilities – who are all drawn together out of the need to shake things up in the fintech space.

Meet our Ops Manager, Charlotte. She’s classy, sassy and extremely Bad-assy!

Tell us, who is Charlotte Badassy?
Well, Charlotte is charismatic, efficient, headstrong and a born go-getter! But, she is also nurturing, empathetic and offers a listening ear to anyone who needs it.

What’s your role at iKhokha?

I’ve been a part of the iK Tribe for just over 5 years. I am the Fixer around here AKA the Ops Manager haha. There’s this saying that I firmly believe in:

“The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in service to others.”Mahatma Gandhi

It means that we should always treat others as we would like to be treated. And, I apply this to my job every day. If we give good service, our customers will feel understood and like they’ve made a good investment in our business. After all, our aim should always be to amaze our customers.

What makes my job easier? I have an amazing team that I stand in awe of because they deal with multiple things at the same time, all that require 100% dedication – and, you know, they do it with such ease and high-energy. It’s my little family within the iKhokha family. No two days are the same here, and I love that.

Who is Charlotte outside of iKhokha?
I’m very family-orientated and I love the tranquillity of nature. So, when I’m not at work, I enjoy the outdoors and spending time with those closest to me. Most people wouldn’t have guessed it, but I love scrapbooking, rom-coms and long walks on the beach. It sounds so clichéd but it calms me down. I do realise that I sound like a total Nicholas Sparks book haha – so it’s a no-brainer that I do read romance novels. My favourite “pick-me-ups” are White Chicks and the Hangover. I love Modern Family (and obvs Phil Dunphy). I love food, especially Indian and Asian cuisines. And, my secret sin is that I game. #Homescapes

What’s your biggest strength?
Mmmm…I guess it’d have to be my compassion. I also give 100% of myself in everything I do. I think because I believe that everybody deserves to receive the same in return too.

“Kindness and compassion give rise to self-confidence, which in turn empowers us to be honest, truthful and transparent.”Dalai Lama

What’s the name of the last book you read?
“Lean In” by Sheryl Sandberg. I was forced to do so by Matt Putman haha. However, after I read it I realised why he did so. The book is about women, work and the will to lead…and that right about sums me up!

Your advice to yourself on how to handle a stressful situation?
When I am faced with stress, I regroup and assess the severity of the situation. Depending on how much is on my plate, I start prioritising. I do what I can and I try not to fix what isn’t broken. It’s all about levels! Coz you know, tomorrow has enough worries of its own.

“Faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen.”Hebrews 11 vs 1

If you were a crayon, what colour would you be?
Pink.

What’s your most used emoji?
The heart.
